The 30-Day Verification

Before you buy, we write down what your water will read after treatment. Thirty days after installation, a certified lab checks whether we were right.

How it works

Before you buy. When we go through your lab report, we don't just tell you what to install, we tell you what the treated water will read. Specific analytes, specific targets. Hardness to a number. Iron below a number. Whatever your report contained, treated, with a figure next to it.

That goes on the agreement in writing, before you've paid for anything.

Thirty days after installation. We collect a second sample and send it to the same certified lab, the same way. Not a strip, not a countertop reading, the same test that produced the first report, so the two are actually comparable.

You get the second report. Your before and your after, both on lab letterhead, both in your name.

If it's off spec, we make it right. We adjust, we re-media, we change what needs changing, and we re-test again. At our cost. The obligation is on the system hitting the numbers, not on you proving anything.

Why thirty days and not the day of install

Because the day of installation tells you almost nothing.

New media needs to be in service before it reads true. Softener resin needs regeneration cycles under your actual water and your actual usage. A house that's had scale building for a decade takes time to flush through. Test at day one and you get a number that means nothing about how the system will behave in year three.

Thirty days is long enough for the system to be doing its real job under your real conditions, and short enough that you're not living with a problem while you wait to find out.

Why this exists

Two reasons, and one of them is about us.

For you: water treatment is one of the few large purchases where the thing you bought is invisible. You can't look at the water and tell whether the system is working. Everyone in this industry knows that, and it's why so much of the selling is about feelings, how the water feels on your skin, how the soap lathers. Those are real, and they're also not measurable, which is convenient.

A number is measurable. Either the water reads below the target or it doesn't.

For us: it's the thing that makes the rest of how we work possible.

We only make one recommendation, and we don't build below what the lab report calls for. People sometimes ask why we won't skip a stage to save money. This is why. If we underbuild your system deliberately, we can't put target numbers in writing, and if we can't do that, we're just another company with an opinion about your water.

The verification is what forces us to build the thing that actually works.

What it doesn't cover

Straight, so there are no surprises:

Full terms are in the agreement, and we go through them with you before you sign rather than after.

The part that keeps working after year one

Year one of Freehold Care is included with every system, and the annual certified re-test is part of it.

Which means you don't just get one before-and-after. You get a line, a record of what your water has done over years, from the same lab, collected the same way. If you sell the house, that record goes with it. If something changes upstream, you find out from a number instead of from a smell.
